The press service of HC Lada informs that the club and Irina Nikitina terminated the contract by mutual agreement of the parties.

After nine full seasons spent in HC Lada the ward of Togliatti handball school won one gold and three bronze medals of the championship of Russia and won the EHF Cup in 2012. The current season should have been the tenth, but at the end of the previous one, when she was the captain of the team, Nikitina found herself out of the game due to an injury. The spinal surgery, transferred in early November in Moscow, didn’t lead to return to the court for various reasons and the breakup eventually became inevitable.

Irina Nikitina also played for HC Rostov-Don, which won the Super League in 2020,  HC Zvezda and HC Astrakhanochka. She played abroad for Montenegrin ZRK Buducnost and Hungarian Siofok KC. The centre back was the vice-champion of Europe in 2018 with the national team of Russia.
