Sanctions on the Russian sport could be lifted shortly after the elections of the IOC President. This opinion was expressed to journalists by the Head of the Handball Federation of Russia Sergey Shishkarev.
— We will definitely achieve our goals on the international arena, as soon as we return to it, and it will happen very soon. It’s a political instinct and a political experience. I have no sacred knowledge, but it seems that after the elections in the IOC the ice will melt, although it may not be immediately, — TASS quotes Sergey Shishkarev’s words.
The elections of the head of the IOC will be held on March, 20, seven people apply for the post.
— Prompt return to the international arena is the thing I would like to wish the whole federation. I wish our women’s national team would put the entire planet on the blades, primarily Norway and France. The past Olympic Games revealed that nobody is able to fight with the Norwegians except the Russian national team. I wish the names of our handball players, young and youthful, who are raised in our clubs, would be heard. The federation will develop despite the obstacles, — Sergey Shishkarev added.
