An open workout of the women’s national team of Russia for mass media representatives was held on November, 21.
The players gatherd in Novogorsk on November, 18. The team started training the next day. 19 players are present on the training session. Anna Vyakhireva, Daria Dmitrieva and Valeria Maslova, who are playing abroad, came to the location of the national team for the first time this year. Valeria Kirdyasheva, who moved to Romanian CS Gloria Bistrita-Nasaud last summer, joined them.
The chairman of the HFR High Council Sergey Shishkarev welcomed all players and the coaching staff. Besides, everyone congratulated Maria Sidorova, who celebrated her birth day.
— I’m very pleased to be here today, and I’m particularly happy to see Anya Vyakhireva and Dasha Dmitrieva in the location of the national team. I repeatedly noted before, that, in my view, they are the best players in the world in their positions. It is also important that young athletes have a wonderful opportunity to train with such masters. The combination of youth and mastery are exactly the key factors that characterize the current line-up of the national team. It is essential for the whole Russian sport that the strongest players come to the national team. Especially, taking into consideration the upcoming matches in Belarus, where both the national anthem and the swishing of the rising Russian flag can be heard. All this should undoubtedly provide additional motivation and responsibility, — the Chairman of the High Council of the HFR Sergey Shishkarev said.
— Obviously, the return of our legionnaires to the squad is clearly noticeable on this training session. We are very pleased with this circumstance, and overall, their appearance brought additional emotions. I find it very important and also exciting to some extent for girls from the junior national team, who are training in Novogorsk along with us. I am also confident that it’s a splash of positive emotions for the girls who arrived from Europe. We tried to find a balance between youth and mastery this time. At the same time, I would like to emphasize that about 5-6 players could easily claim the place in the current line-up, — the head coach of the women’s national team Lyudmila Bodniyeva said.
